Sump services can shift between “wear-driven” and “clog-driven” problems depending on what solids and debris actually enter the pit. DL-MTM is positioned as a closed-impeller medium-duty solution for moderately abrasive slurries where higher efficiency and pressure are required.
However, some sumps also receive fibrous material, coarse debris, or aerated liquids that can raise blockage risk and cause unstable operation. In those cases, a clog-resistant impeller philosophy may be evaluated to preserve continuity of flow, even if peak efficiency is not the main target.
The correct configuration is the one that stays stable during the worst realistic sump conditions, not the one that looks best at a single “average” duty point.
